The first doctors appointment . . . can I say total letdown! It was most definitely not what I expected. I was expecting to at least see the doctor, but not even that today. These things should be told to first-time moms so we know what we're in for. :)
When we arrived this morning, we started the appointment by meeting with a person from the financial department. Sounds awesome, huh? Not! Basically, she gives us a rundown of how much it is going to cost us to have a baby, how much we need to pay per month (yeah, who knew you had to pre-pay to have a baby? Not me!), what the insurance will and will not cover, and what is covered under our deductible. I'm sure you can see why I wasn't thrilled to start the day off this way. I do understand that there are some pros to having this meeting, but it was a little overwhelming, considering I hadn't even met with the doctor yet.
After this joyous meeting, I headed to speak with a lady about my family history. This wasn't bad. She had a lot of information for me, even a little book about pregnancy and birth. Then, I had my blood drawn for a bunch of tests they run. I should hear the results of those at my next appointment on November 10th.
At my next appointment, I will finally get to see the doctor, and I get an ultrasound to see how far along the baby is. The estimated due date right now is June 2nd, but that could change after the ultrasound to see how big baby is.
I don't think this appointment would have bothered me as much as it did if I would have known that I wasn't even going to see the doctor. It just caught me off guard. I am really excited for my next appointment and ultrasound. I think it will make it more real to see the picture and hear the heartbeat. :) I can't wait!
Sorry to complain the whole time, but sometimes a girl just needs to vent. On the plus side of things, the house sitution is progressing nicely. We are waiting to hear back about what we asked to have fixed. I need to do some more packing soon too. Also, I am starting to feel better. There are fewer days where I all I want to do is stay in bed all day, so that is a definite plus. I am also glad that all of the fam knows now too. It's so hard to keep secrets!
Well, that's all for now! I will update again soon! Love you!
