Hey friends and fam! I have decided to keep a running list of things I am learning as a new mom. Hope you like!
1. Say goodbye to sleep! - There have been many nights I have gotten up 5+ times, but once I hold my baby boy in my arms it is totally worth it. He makes life so special, even in my sleep deprived state. Even though Cooper is absolutely amazing, I will admit I still miss my late mornings and long naps sometimes. :)
2. Parenting has been an amazing way for Steve and I to grow our relationship. - He has been amazing! A few examples for you: on mornings he comes home from the fire house, he takes Cooper, so that I can go back to sleep for a little while. This may not seem like much, but to a sleepy mommy, it is like getting a million bucks! :) Some days, when Steve has had a long day at work, I take Cooper, so that he can take a long nap that afternoon. We have learned that a little give and take can earn us a ton of brownie points. We have also learned to appreciate the "mommy and daddy" time we receive. Some days it is longer than others, but we always look forward to it. We cherish the time we can sit together, marvel about our amazing son, and be thankful for all of the blessings in our lives. It has brought us closer than ever.
3. Showers are a luxury! - I used to take my long, hot showers for granted, but I will never do so again! :) Some days, I am lucky to get in a quick hair wash, so I definitely I appreciate it when I have time for a nice long soak.
4. I am growing in my faith in ways I never imagined. - In the past 4 months I have learned more about patience, selflessness, unconditional love than I have in my entire life. God is teaching me to come to him when I am weak - He gives me strength when I feel like I am too tired to get up in the middle of the night and gives me patience when Cooper won't stop crying. I also have a spirit of joy and thankfulness for my family, something that I have taken for granted in the past. Although it is hard to find time to get into the Word some day, God has been teaching me so much when I do. I definitely have a new appreciation for my quiet time.
5. MORE TO COME AS A CONTINUE MY MOMMYHOOD JOURNEY. :)
