Confessions #2

5. Bowel movements become a common topic of conversation - It's funny how much more we talk about poop around here.  "Has Cooper pooped today?"  "How many times?"  "What color was it?"  "Why is it so thick?"  "Was it seedy, like usual, or different because of the cereal?"  It's amazing how long poop conversations can be.  :)

6.  Decision making for someone else (who can't make their own decisions) is hard! - I have been really stressed out about taking Cooper out during flu season.  He isn't old enough to have his flu shot yet and the doctor even went as far as to tell me to tell all of my family members to get a flu shot in order for us to come to Thanksgiving (we are still going, even though everyone has not had the shot - I think his recomendation is a little extreme).  Ever since then, I have been a lot more paraoid than usual.  I am nervous to even take him to the grocery store.  My rational side tells me it is crazy to keep him in inside all of the time, but my worrier side tells me it is selfish to risk his health just for a trip to the store.  I have been praying that God would help me let go of the worry, and trust in him - I know this is what I need to do, but it is really hard.

7. Giving thanks for what you have makes you see things in a new light. - I recently read a blog entry by a friend who told us about the "blessing box" she grew up with and how she is doing it with her little ones now (thanks Elissa!).  I loved the idea, and decided to make my own thanksgiving bucket.  Throughout the day, when I think of something I am thankful for, I write it down and put it in the bucket.  It has been helping me focus on what I am thankful for in my life, instead of what is lacking.  I know that this is the season of giving thanks, but I may just leave it up all year.

8. Christmas shopping is way more fun when you have a kid! - Steve and I always have a blast when we walk through Toys R US or the toy section at Walmart.  We find ourselves says, "Cooper is going to love that when he is older!" or "Do you think he will like Thomas the Train as much as I did?", or "I can't wait to play Legos with him!"  I usually dispise shopping of all forms, but I am finding my Grinch's shopping heart is slowly growing to 3X its normal size.  :)
